Prague Castle is a historic landmark of Prague and one of the most important symbols of the Czech state. It is located on the left bank of the Vltava River and was founded in the 9th century. Over the centuries, it has served as the residence of Czech princes, kings, emperors, and today it is the official seat of the President of the Czech Republic.
The castle complex is one of the largest in the world and includes many significant monuments such as St. Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace, St. George's Basilica, the Golden Lane, and the Queen Anne's Summer Palace. It is not only a center of political and spiritual life but also a popular destination for tourists from around the world.
Prague Castle is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is open to the public all year round.
Prague - Vyšehrad
Vyšehrad is a historic fort, castle, and fortress located in Prague, perched on a rocky promontory above the right bank of the Vltava River, on the southern edge of the city’s historic center, in the Vyšehrad district.
The Vyšehrad Cemetery, located next to the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, is the final resting place of many notable Czech figures. It also includes the Slavín, a national pantheon for distinguished individuals. Within the grounds stands the Rotunda of St. Martin, the oldest surviving rotunda in Prague.
Today, the Vyšehrad complex is a publicly accessible parkland and has been designated a National Cultural Monument since 1962.
Charles Bridge
Charles Bridge is the oldest preserved bridge over the Vltava River in Prague and one of the city's most famous landmarks. Its construction was initiated by Emperor Charles IV in 1357 and completed in the early 15th century. The bridge connects the Old Town with the Lesser Town and is approximately 516 meters long.
The bridge is adorned with thirty Baroque statues and sculptural groups of saints, making it a unique open-air gallery. The cobblestone Charles Bridge is reserved for pedestrians only and offers beautiful views of Prague Castle and the historic city center. It is a popular spot for walks, street performers, and photographers from all over the world.
Old Town Square
The Old Town Square is the historic heart of Prague, known for its picturesque atmosphere and beautiful Gothic and Baroque buildings. On the square stands the famous Prague Astronomical Clock — a medieval astronomical clock from 1410 that, every hour, displays a unique procession of the apostles and other figures. The clock is one of the oldest functioning astronomical clocks in the world and a popular tourist attraction.
